Description of duties
To carry out daily vehicle user checks and complete defect sheets as necessary, ensuring that the supervisor is aware of any defects found.
To carry out deliveries and collections with the support of drivers’ mates, taking responsibility for planning own route at the start of the day and for returning the Driver’s List, with all supporting paperwork (accurately completed), to Driver Supervisor /Operations Manager at the end of the round.
To complete drivers’ log in compliance with regulations and ensure that all records are passed to the Driver Supervisor within the prescribed timescale; and to ensure that driving hours and working time directive legislation is respected.
To ensure that all items carried are loaded correctly, adequately restrained and at all times handled in such a way as to minimise damage.
To provide excellent customer service to Company’s customers; use tact and diplomacy when dealing with donors and customers, and to ensure assigned drivers’ mates do so equally. To drive in a safe manner and to report any incidents/accidents to the Driver Supervisor immediately.
To ensure client confidentiality is maintained at all times.
To participate in risk assessments and to report any observed hazards and risks, and to comply with personal injury reporting requirements; and to comply with insurer’s requirements in the event of a vehicle accident.
To wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required, including a company high-vis tabard whenever driving a vehicle or working in the vicinity of a vehicle.
To carry out other duties and attend meetings and training as required commensurate with the post and capability of the job holder.
